Amber
Fort
Amber Fort is situated 11 km from Jaipur.
It was once the ancient capital of Jaipur State. Raja Man Singh
started its construction in 1592, but it took over two centuries
to complete this complex. Located on a hillside and overlooking
a lake, which reflects its terraces
and ramparts. The fort is an excellent example of Rajput architecture
and within the Fort lies the
famous Jai Mandir (Temple) with its world
renowned Sheesh Mahal, a hall
full of Mirrors. Climbing to Amber Fort by elephant can be a great
experience.
Hawa
Mahal (Palace of Winds)
Jaipur's
signature building, the Hawa Mahal, a multi layered
palace, was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Famous
for it's beehive like structure, the Mahal is interplay
of red and pink sand stone, carefully and painstakingly
outlined with white borders and motifs.
This five-story, pyramid-shaped structure is made up of small casements,
each with tiny windows and arched roofs with hanging cornices, exquisitely
modelled and carved.
